Yesterday, the Lakeland and IA-West Choirs performed at MSVMA District Choral Festival at Walled Lake Northern. Both Lakeland Singers and the Bel Canto Festival Choir sang beautifully and received 1’s (the top rating). Additionally, Lakeland Singers received an outstanding score of 118/120 (including another perfect score on sight reading). This continues a season of festival success that included 1’s for all District Solo and Ensemble participants and perfect scores for both advanced large ensembles, Noteworthy and Bluebirds. This past Saturday was the State Solo and Ensemble Festival for the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association. Band students from IA West, Lakeland, and Milford that qualified for States performed throughout the day, and they were incredible! We had 100% of our students medal! 68 Individual medals were awarded to HVS students. Of those, 3 were Division II ratings, and 65 were Division I ratings (Division I is the highest rating possible). Congratulations to all of our HVS band students on this achievement!

GLOW NIGHT Fun at Spring Mills!
Families came out in huge numbers to Spring Mills Elementary on March 8th for their first Glow Night! Ms. Robinson had made fabulous glow-in-the-dark artwork with the students and Mrs. LaPratt had practiced fun grade-level performances with various glowing props like finger lights, light-up drumsticks, tennis- and snowballs, gloves, and LED foam sticks. There was dancing, face painting, music, laughter, and lots of photos. This special night featuring the arts was made possible thanks to a grant from the HVEF and with lots of help from the PTA and volunteers.

"Mrs. Peaden puts kids first, is beyond positive with others, and actively looks to solve any adversity by seeking first to understand, asking for feedback and coming up with win-win solutions. She is a great colleague to experience and I am happy our child has her as principal at Lakewood. She is a fantastic role model!" #WeAreHVS #HVSsuccess
