Right now, Lakeland High and International Academy-West student leaders are hosting their annual Holiday Hope for Kids party. The student leaders raised money to buy gifts for HVS and Oakland County special needs students, teachers and their classrooms.

White Lake Middle School 8th Grader Isabella Gutierrez had her Patriot's Pen essay chosen to advance to regional level. The nationwide youth competition had students write on an annual patriotic theme, "My Pledge to Our Veterans".

At tonight’s board meeting, White Lake Middle School shared how Career Day gives their 7th and 8th graders a chance to get real life connections on many different jobs. Ms. Fogleman and Mrs. Welch are the driving forces behind this educational day.

Lakeland Football Team was awarded Academic All-State Honors.
The Eagles are one of the top four teams in Division 2, and eight student-athletes earned individual Academic All-State Honors.

Every year, HVS families help with Corktown Blessings, a Thanksgiving dinner for the less fortunate. This year, Lakewood Elementary 3rd graders made placemats. They had puzzles, pictures and encouraging words.

For the next four weeks, Johnson PE teacher Mr. Browne is hosting after-school intramural hockey. All K-5 Johnson Elementary students are invited to participate, free of charge.

Oxbow Elementary 2nd graders had a great time with their Lakeland JOI club members this week. Turkey hats were made along with stuffing a turkey with feathers filled with gratitude!

Muir Middle School’s cafeteria staff were hard at work today preparing 1,300 Thanksgiving lunches and 832 cups of cranberries for students. Their Tommy Turkey even helped supervise the process!

Corey Wood, a former Lakeland student, has been in the Huron Valley Adult Education program for over 4 years. Last night, he reached a milestone in earning his GED. He has crushed every obstacle while demonstrating courage along the way!

Jazelle Hysko, a student at Oak Valley Middle School, held her third blanket drive to donate to those less fortunate. With the help of her family, friends and the community, she collected 732 blankets for Carriage Town Ministries in Flint.

Adult Education’s Karen Gerard has been awarded the MACAE 2022 Support Service Staff Award. She has been supporting, caring, teaching, and advising Adult Education students for more than 20 years. Karen will receive her award this week.

In 2022, HVS went out to bid for District wide copiers and printers. The winning bid included selling old machines and having the proceeds donated to The Huron Valley Education Foundation. This week, a $21,000 check was presented by Joe Green, account manager at UTEC.
