Exciting News! 🎶
ALL 8 of the HVS band nominees who auditioned for the Western Michigan University All-Star Band have been selected! They'll be performing at the Spring Conference on Thursday, April 10, at WMU!
But that's not all! Every student in sections with multiple parts earned a spot on the 1st part, and TWO students were named Principal Chair (1st Chair) for their instruments! 🎺🥁🎷

During last night's HVS Board of Education meeting, 18 middle school students were honored for completing the STAMP assessment and receiving high school world language credits. Along with 12 HVS staff members honored for earning their Global Seal of Biliteracy, which recognizes high-level proficiency in two or more languages. Our district is the first in Oakland County to award this prestigious honor to our staff.

This past weekend, at Livonia Churchill HS, our band students had an incredible showing at State Solo and Ensemble Festival. We had 25 events perform, with 3 of them receiving Excellent Ratings, and 22 receiving Superior Ratings. Every single performer from HVS medaled.
Also, every HVS student who took a proficiency exam passed, you must score over 85 to pass, this is a first for HVS!

Danielle Vivio, Art Teacher at White Lake Middle School, is very excited to announce that Melody Guerra-Edwinson and Kenzie Barendse were both awarded a spot in the Top 18 middle school art entries in the state for the Michigan Art Education Association (MAEA) Student Art Exhibition. Their artwork will move on from our regional art show to the state exhibit at Adrian College and will be on display at the Hickman Gallery starting today, March 17 until April 5.

The Milford HS Concert Choir received a 1 (Excellent) rating at the District Choral Festival on March 11. They performed for 4 judges, worked with a vocal clinician from Traverse City, and performed 6 sight-singing exercises. The MHS Concert Choir had such poise and confidence and even received a perfect score in sight-singing from one of the judges.
