Alumni Spotlight! Hattie Korth! Class of 2019! Some great memories of LHS were participating in Track & Field and being involved in the arts, including NAHS. I recently graduated with my BFA in K-12 Art Education, and am currently teaching at The Early Childhood Center at The J Detroit. I also work at the summer camp program there! #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Shelby Denton! Class of 2010! Some great memories of LHS were doing all of the plays with the theater program, making sets, costumes, doing make up and acting! After LHS I've gone on to get my bachelors in Art History, lived abroad in Italy and I’m now married with a fur baby cat name Burger! I started my own mini business making and selling crochet clothes and accessories.. #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Jennifer Gifford (Gross)! Class of 1995! She says I loved all my teachers in the English department. Mr. William’s, Mrs. Segowski, and Mrs. Dawson. They were inspiring and motivational. I loved pep rallies with the band and football games. I was teacher before going back and getting my MSW. Now I’m a therapist helping people become the best versions of themselves. I’ve been married for almost 20 years, and I live on a farm with my daughter and son. I’m a host mom to foreign exchange students and love being outdoors. #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Kat Lewitzke! Class of 2004! One of my fondest memories of Lakeland was my time on the JV and varsity poms teams, where I not only had a blast performing but also met some of my lifelong friends, including my best friend, Jenn Caruso (Kerstetter). Those years were filled with energy, fun, and unforgettable moments. Another defining experience was taking AP Psychology with Mr. Stormont, who truly inspired me. His encouragement and passion for psychology planted the first seeds of my future career, pushing me to always strive for more. Lakeland was full of laughter, wild times, and incredible friendships, and reconnecting at our 20-year reunion in September 2024 was a great reminder of how special those years were. After graduating, I went on to earn my doctorate in psychology and am now the owner and clinic director of Bright Pine Behavioral Health, a private mental health practice in Metro Detroit with locations in Clarkston, West Bloomfield, and Troy. Our clinic specializes in neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties, as well as anxiety and depression, serving individuals from childhood through adulthood. In 2019, I was honored as a Mom-Approved Doc by Metro Parent, and in 2023, I was recognized as part of Oakland County’s 40 Under 40. I also host a podcast called “Psych Confidential” and have been featured on various podcasts and news programs. The Joseph Paduchowski Memorial Scholarship was created on what would have been Joseph’s 17th birthday on March 8, 2024. Joseph lost his life in a tragic accident on December 3, 2023. Joseph was a part of the Lakeland High School Class of 2025. His family felt it appropriate to award 2 scholarships to deserving members of this year’s graduating class. This scholarship recognizes two graduating senior athletes from Lakeland High School who best exemplify the qualities that Joseph exhibited. Joseph was a friend to all. He was a loving brother, son, friend, coworker, and teammate. He loved people and loved life. He was a proud member of the Lakeland Eagles Varsity Football Team at Lakeland High School. Because of the generosity of friends, family, and the community, Joseph’s family hopes to be able to award this scholarship for many years to come. Please congratulate Isabella Sutherby and Derek Varga for being the recipients of the inaugural Joseph Paduchowski Memorial Scholarships for the Class of 2025! His family knows he would be proud.
