S.A.T./P.S.A.T. and A.C.T.
S.A.T. :
S.A.T. Directions - Save yourself some valuable time on test day. Familiarize yourself with the directions and expectations for each section of the Re-Designed S.A.T. (Please keep in mind that due to the changes this year, this document may no longer be relevant. We will be updating this information as it becomes available).
P.S.A.T./N.M.S.Q.T. : This Preliminary S.A.T. (P.S.A.T.) administration serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (N.M.S.Q.T.) for junior students and is a great preparation for the S.A.T. which all juniors traditionally take in the spring. This is an optional test, so you must purchase a test.
P.S.A.T. 10 and P.S.A.T. 8/9 : These assessments will provide a great opportunity to practice for taking the S.A.T. in junior year and will provide students with information on their skills, college readiness, and suggestions for scheduling appropriate coursework in the future.
Khan Academy : This free service has partnered with College Board to provide exclusive access to preparation materials for the re-designed S.A.T. tests. Through Khan Academy you can upload your P.S.A.T. or S.A.T. results, or take diagnostic testing, to develop a personalized road map for S.A.T. test preparation. You can easily sign in to Khan Academy using Google. All students can use their H.V.S. Google login information to gain access to this great preparation tool.
A.C.T. : Since students in Michigan are no longer automatically taking the A.C.T., if you would like to take this test you will have to sign up through A.C.T. directly on their website. Most colleges will take either S.A.T. or A.C.T. scores as part of the college admissions process. If you are unsure as to how the S.A.T. will go, we would encourage you to take both tests. Send all of your scores to colleges or for scholarship opportunities and whichever score is higher will be the one that is used. Come see your counselor if you have a question about whether or not you should take the A.C.T.
