Lakeland High School

Alumni Spotlight! Corey McGowan! Class of 2008! One of my top favorite memories was beating Milford in football my senior year, breaking a 14-year losing streak against them. I also loved being a part of Lakeland track and field! It was always fun traveling to track meets and competing. Lastly, playing basketball was one of my top memories too. Winning the district championship in '07 in basketball was a great night, and sharing it with family and teammates was amazing. Go Eagles! Now my amazing wife Jessica and I live in Highland, with our three awesome kids, Baylon, Braylea, and Blake, who are ages 12, 10, and 3. Two of them are students in HVS. I currently teach PE at LHS. I am also head boys' and girls' track coach at LHS, the head JV football coach at LHS, and the 7th grade girls' basketball coach at WLMS. Additionally, I help coach my son’s football team through the Lakeland Broncos organization. #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Reyn Gilmore! Class of 2013! When I think of Lakeland High School I think the time I spent in APUSH with now retiree Mrs. Smith and APLIT with Mrs. Miska!! What great teachers that allowed me to thrive and be a better human. Currently I’ve become an ASL interpreter. I work as a freelancer in my spare time. Full time, I work for a company called ZP Better Together LLC as a Team Manager Practitioner. I oversee roughly 30 interpreters, as well as interpret deaf users, phone calls. I get to meet people from all walks of life and it is extremely rewarding! #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Taylor Verstraete! Class of 2021! My favorite memory of high school was Friday night football games and spirit week. She is currently going to college get her degree to become a police officer. #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Jennifer Wright (Coombs)! Class of 2007! My favorite memory was being a part of Mrs. Rubin's Marketing class & DECA. I competed in the written competitions. I made it to the state competition each time. Our class set up the school store & ran it during lunch time. These things made learning fun. I learned so much that prepared me for life after high school. I thank Mrs. Rubin for encouraging me and teaching me. She made a huge impact on my life. Thank you, Mrs. Rubin!

I have a blog called Proverbial Housewife. My husband's name is Aaron. He is an Engineering Technician. We have been married since 2011. We have lived in South Carolina since 2019.
