Andrew Furlotte, LHS Junior, and his robotic arm

Lakeland Junior Andrew Furlotte, a member of the HVS HOT Robotics team and LHS Computer Science program, spends his spare time working with electronics, coding, design, and 3-D printing to create items with the intent of helping others.  Here, he demonstrates a robotic hand that he is currently working on -- all five digits are programmed to work separately using a combination of computer code, servos, and various electronics (all designed by Andrew).  In addition, Andrew also designed the plastic hand pieces and printed them on his 3-D printer at home.  With innovative high school students like Andrew contributing to the bio-medical engineering field in such unique ways, the future is in great hands!
