Your 2nd year boys volleyball team is heading to its 1st district finals! Just a week after MHSAA approved the sponsorship of Boys Volleyball, beginning Spring 2026, the Lakeland team began their post season run traveling to District 7 host, North Farmington High School.
The Eagles were matched up against the Farmington Falcons, who split a share of the Detroit West Conference Championship at 7-1 with Lakeland (both teams 1-1 in conference match ups).
The Eagles adjusted their defense with junior libero Jacob Valenton at the lead, and player of the game junior setter Derek Varga was a huge role in spreading the offense. Sophomore Zach Dobrin and junior Eli Yen kept the pressure on in the outside hitter positions, earning 17 and 16 kills respectively. Each player on the court had an equal hand in the hard work and team work the boys displayed from 1st set to 4th set, and earned the District Semi-Final win together.
The Eagles beat the Falcons with the set scores at 25-23, 17-25, 25-22, and 28-26.
Next up, Lakeland plays their shot at a program first district title vs the Walled Lake Central Vikings this Friday at North Farmington High School. Game starts at 7pm!
