Freshman Physics Foam Insulation Roller Coaster Adventure (picture Matthew Dougherty, Peyton Stauss, Jacob Scherbty, and Parker Crane) "By turning physics class into a roller coaster adventure with foam insulation tracks, our freshmen physics students lived and breathed the excitement of science, gaining a deeper understanding of physics concepts, while honing teamwork and problem-solving skills. In the roller coaster project with a loop, the demonstration of energy conservation becomes even more exciting. As the coaster starts its descent and enters the loop, potential energy is converted into kinetic energy. This kinetic energy keeps the coaster moving through the loop and back up again. This thrilling journey illustrates how energy is transformed without being lost, making physics come alive in a spectacular way." - Mrs. Gleason, Science Teacher

The principal, Kevin McKenna, of Milford High School, announced today that Tyler Bredernitz and Nathan Forman have been named Commended Students in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. The principal will present a Letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, to these scholastically talented seniors. About 34,000 Commended Students nationwide are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2024 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2024 competition by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). “The young men being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments and the key role their schools play in their academic development is vital to advancing educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.” Congratulations, Tyler and Nathan!
