Yesterday was Monster Delivery Day!!! Students in our MHS CTE Stagecraft class had the task of taking a monster drawing made by a Highland El JK student and creating a fully realized stuffed version. They presented the final monsters yesterday!!! Always one of their favorite projects!!! Thank you to Mr. K and his JK class (and Dr. Campbell) for helping us with this project.

What awesome kids! We outgrew our stair picture and had to move to the commons. After a long day of competing, lots of medals came home with our Mavericks. Maverick DECA is truly amazing.-- If you see any of these students this week, please congratulate them on a job well done. Each event has 3-4 flights. Milford students do not compete against other Milford students in their flight. That is why you will see several getting the overall (going on to the State competition) in each category. Milford did an amazing job representing our school and our students really stood out against other Oakland County schools.

The Junior Optimist Club at Milford High School along with Huron Valley Community Coalition and Students Leading Students organized a Distracted Driving Simulation Day for Milford High School students during lunch. Students were able to try fatal Vision Goggles (Marijuana and Alcohol impairment) and Driving Simulators with a steering wheel. Students were able to experience what it may be like to drive under these circumstances in a safe environment and start conversations. We were thrilled the student engagement was very popular! Thank you to all those that made it happen.

The season was a great success for it being our first one. We went 2-5 in Valorant and 5-2 in Super Smash bro's, which qualified us for playoffs in Super Smash bro's. We made it to the quarter finals in the winners bracket at playoffs. We practiced after school Mon-Fri from 2:30-4:00 and had games once a week for each game. The upcoming season (Feb-April) will offer Overwatch 2 and Rocket League. Any student interested in joining, please reach out to Mr. Wagner via email or in person (my room # is 107).

The Milford High School Thespians of Troupe 4291 participated and competed at the annual Michigan Thespian Festival this past weekend at the Lansing Center. 37 MHS/IA-West students attended and participated in Individual Competitive Events, Workshops, Shows from other high schools, Senior Scholarship Auditions, and networked with university and industry professionals. Seven seniors competed for College Scholarships and collectively earned $1,919,000 in offers!! Congratulations to all for representing MHS and our troupe - Jillian Armstrong, Lachlan Beesley, Vivian Lakin, Joe Meagher, Allie Mobey, Aubrey Snavley, & Peyton Wheeler. Jillian Armstrong was also chosen as one of the TOP TEN thespians earning the prestigious Thespian Scholarship. She is the 9th MHS student to earn such an honor in the past 10 years. Senior Ben Mondrush served this year as a member of the exclusive Student Thespian Officer Board, helping to execute this successful festival and running several aspects throughout the weekend. All of our Individual Events earned the top ratings. Congratulations to Jillian Armstrong, Alana Banier, Amelia Dalbis, Lauren Gates, Shea Giese, Tori Grant, Megan Hotchkiss, Vivian Lakin, Angelina Maruskin, Joe Meagher, Allie Mobey, Ben Sanko, Aubrey Snavley, Brendan Stewart, Ivy Williams, Simon Williams, & Ally Wilmot. Senior Megan Hotchkiss and Junior Shea Giese were also featured at the Thespian Showcase. They performed their top-rated duet acting scene for the entire festival during closing ceremonies. All in all, it was a tremendous weekend that we got to share with over 55 schools in Michigan (including our brothers and sisters at LHS). These kids make us look great and we are consistently recognized by several universities for our talent and professionalism.

The Green Club is having a Bottle and Can Drive on Thursday December 15th to raise money for their Earth Day project...as this point they are not sure what their project will be since that is dependent on how much money they collect...some options are adopting an endangered animal, planting trees in the community, or cleaning up common areas in the Milford area...the more they raise, the more options are available.   The drive will be December 15th from 2:00pm to 2:30pm at the pools and fitness entrance...please bring bottles/cans in a plastic bag..   Thank you in advance for helping us promote environmental sustainability in our community

Dear MHS Parents, Please see attached flyer regarding a new resource that we are excited to provide for our students. We are coordinating with Uplift Milford (local non-profit) to create The Mav Shed which will be located at the high school. The Mav Shed will be a student supply closet that will provide any necessities that the students may find themselves needing throughout the day. The Mav Shed will be open to all students and if needed, additional supplies will be available to take home. We will have several standard items stocked but students may also request additional items that they are in need of. General categories of items stocked in the closet will include clothing, personal hygiene items, snacks and misc items such as school supplies and phone chargers. MHS parents can participate in supporting the Mav Shed by donating items that are needed. If you are interested in making a donation, please fill out the following google form and let us know the best way to reach you. Adding your name to this list will allow us to reach out periodically and make you aware of which items are needed at various times of the year. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1UcLE68vZbt_oFI2iYqOCPoMcZLrBCdvyMhmP8ohXv78/edit

Genisys Credit Union hosted a Reality Fair for seniors in the Personal Finance course at Milford High School. Students selected a job and were given a starting salary along with a credit score. Students, using an app on their phone to track the budget, went to visit Genisys employees at a variety of stations to make purchases for their "life" such as transportation, entertainment, housing, charity, etc. If students went over their budget, they needed to meet with the Career Counselor. It was an eye opening experience for students to see what an impact each decision has on their overall budget. Thank you Genisys Credit Union!
