June 7, 2024

Good afternoon Oxbow Families,

As I sit down to write this week’s Friday Notes, I am getting a bit emotional. This was our last 5 day week for the 2023-2024 school year with your child! It’s been an amazing school year with many fun activities, memories made, lessons learned and new adventures. I hope that you have felt that this school year was a special one for your child. If there is anything that we can do to help support, answer any questions or if you have any suggestions for next school year, please reach out to me.

Thank you Mrs. Page and parent volunteers for the spectacular event this afternoon! Our students had a wonderful time outdoors playing together, cheering one another on and celebrating the end of the school year at our annual Field Day event. Way to go Owls!

Thank you for all that you do for your child and for working alongside our amazing staff this school year!

Schedule:

June 12- Last Day of School (½ Day-Dismissal @ 12:40 pm)

June 12- 5th Grade Clap Out @ 12:30

5th Grade Clap Out:

Please join us on June 12th at 12:30 for the 5th grade Clap Out to celebrate sending off our oldest Owls to White Lake Middle School! Students will begin the celebration parade indoors before making their way out the back GYM door. They will walk alongside the sidewalk on the north side of the building, making our way to the front of the building.

Parents and family members are asked to line the sidewalk on the north side of the building, as well as the front of the building.

Volunteers Needed at Lunch and Recess:

We are always looking for parents that are interested and willing to volunteer at lunch and recess next week on Monday and Tuesday. We have room to accommodate those volunteers that would like to help indoors or outdoors. As with any volunteering position, you must have a cleared CRC on file with the Main Office. Please reach out to Mrs. Greenleaf if you would like to help out. We are flexible and open to whatever works with your schedule.

Lunch Hours are 11:45-2:00 pm/ daily

Yearbooks:

We have extra yearbooks available to purchase for $15.00 each. Please reach out to the Main Office if you are interested in purchasing one.

Thank you Mrs. Page and Mrs. McGinnis for all of your hard work this year on the yearbook. Your leadership and excitement made it a fun club for our Owls to be a part of. We appreciate you!

Ticks:

With the warm weather that we have been experiencing, tick numbers are at a high right now. Please be sure to check your children daily when they get home from school. We also remind the children to quickly complete a self scan here as well.

In case you missed it, a message from Mr. Rehnlund:

Dear Oxbow Students and Parents,

As many of you know, this school year has been filled with exciting developments! In addition to the accomplishments of this past school year, I'm thrilled to announce that I've accepted the position of PBIS Coordinator at Highland Elementary, starting next school year. While I'm eager to embark on this new adventure, leaving the incredible Oxbow family has been one of the hardest professional decisions I've ever had to make.

For the past 20 years, Oxbow has been my second home. Witnessing your children flourish, collaborating with supportive parents, and fostering a love of learning have been truly enriching experiences. I'll forever cherish the memories we've made together.

While my path takes me to Highland, I won't be a stranger!  Oxbow will always hold a special place in my heart. You can expect to see me around cheering on students across the district, and catching up with familiar faces. Consider me a friendly neighbor, always happy to reminisce or offer support.

Thank you to each and every one of you for making Oxbow such a special place. It's been a privilege to be a part of your child's educational journey.

I'll see ya out there!!!   Mr. Rehnlund

Thank you,

Have a wonderful weekend! Only 2.5 days left!

Mrs. Greenleaf
