We are flexible and open to whatever works with your schedule.

Any help in the next 2 weeks will be much appreciated!

Message from Mr. Rehnlund:

Dear Oxbow Students and Parents,

As many of you know, this school year has been filled with exciting developments! In addition to the accomplishments of this past school year, I'm thrilled to announce that I've accepted the position of PBIS Coordinator at Highland Elementary, starting next school year. While I'm eager to embark on this new adventure, leaving the incredible Oxbow family has been one of the hardest professional decisions I've ever had to make.

For the past 20 years, Oxbow has been my second home. Witnessing your children flourish, collaborating with supportive parents, and fostering a love of learning have been truly enriching experiences. I'll forever cherish the memories we've made together.

While my path takes me to Highland, I won't be a stranger!  Oxbow will always hold a special place in my heart. You can expect to see me around cheering on students across the district and catching up with familiar faces. Consider me a friendly neighbor, always happy to reminisce or offer support.

Thank you to each and every one of you for making Oxbow such a special place. It's been a privilege to be a part of your child's educational journey.

I'll see ya out there!!!   Mr. Rehnlund

Field Day Updates from Mrs. Page:

Dear Oxbow Families,

Friendly reminder that next Friday, June 7th, is our field day celebration!

For those of you that are new, field day is an event that happens during the school day where your child/ren get to spend their day playing games, getting exercise, and making memories with their friends. This is always an exciting time for all and I look forward to it every year.

Due to the safety of our students, there will be NO spectators allowed to come to field day. If you would like to be involved in this special event, please check out my sign up genius that was sent out via email. If you choose to volunteer, please make sure you fill out the CRC form on the sign up genius and return it to our main office PRIOR to field day.

On Friday, June 7th, please make sure your child wears sunscreen, tennis shoes, appropriate shorts or pants, bring a water bottle and a towel (labeled with their name). This will ensure our students to have the best and safest time on their field day. This year, shirts were provided thanks to Hersh Beattie Isenberg Orthodontics! Your child will receive this free shirt on the day of the event.  You may also want your child to bring an extra pair of shorts/pants due to water balloon activities.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Page at Laura.page@hvs.org.

Ticks:

With the warm weather that we have been experiencing, tick numbers are at a high right now. Please be sure to check your children daily when they get home from school. We also remind the children to quickly complete a self-scan here as well.

Head Lice:

Over the past couple of weeks, several parents reached out to our Main Office that they had found lice on their child.

Here are a few key pieces of information regarding lice that will be helpful for all to understand and know:

Even though they do not jump or fly, they can spread from one student to another by sharing combs, brushes, clothing, hats, and in bedding. Head lice can happen to anyone. It is not a sign of poor health habits or being dirty.

There are many lice treatment shampoos on the market as well as other mechanical and manual methods of controlling the lice.

Bedding, clothing, and hats should be laundered in very hot water (120 degrees) on the same day or evening your child is treated.

Nits (lice eggs) are tiny, white, pearly eggs that attach themselves to the hair shaft close to the scalp. The nit can be removed manually by pinching between two fingernails and pulling it off the hair shaft, or by using a "nit comb", available in most pharmacies.

All members of the household need to be checked when there is one case of head lice in your immediate family or home.

When the child that has been treated for head lice returns to school, his or her head should be free of lice and nits.

Thank you,

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mrs. Greenleaf
