Muir is proud to announce that Ms. Blanchard has been named the Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Teacher of the Year. This honors and recognizes 28 years of dedication and service to teaching and her students. Every year, her colleagues across the state vote on the award recipient, and this year she was chosen. Ms.Blanchard leads our band to a new level of musical excellence.
Current students who have worked with Ms. Blanchard from 6th-8th grade, Brendan and Carter, were asked to share some thoughts about their experiences in band. “One of my favorite things about her is that she is always friendly and funny. Whether you’re new to band, or you’re back for another year, Ms. Blanchard is sure to make you laugh and make you feel right at home. Every day I look forward to band, and I can’t wait to see what musical shenanigans we’ll get up to,” Brendan explains with a smile. Carter builds on Brendan’s praise by stating that his “favorite thing about Ms. Blanchard is how motivated she is to bring the world of music to those who want to enhance their learning in the education of the fine arts. I know that whenever she’s given a challenge, she doesn’t let up.”
Students, staff, and the entire Muir community are fortunate to experience her musical prowess, dedication to excellence in teaching, her endless work ethic, and delightful sense of humor and humanity.
