On Friday, February 2nd, over 15 different high schools and technical centers gathered at Washtenaw Community College for the Region 2-West SkillsUSA Competition. Students competed against one another as they performed a series of lab tasks and answered a 100-question test to determine the top automotive students in the area. This year, Gavin Tokarczyk of Milford High School earned first place in the Maintenance and Light Repair category. For his accomplishment, he was awarded a one-year scholarship to WCC, along with a bucket full of tools. Gavin will now move on to the State SkillsUSA Competition in Grand Rapids on April 13th.
