Amvets with Students for Veterans Assembly

Heritage Elementary School - Friday, November 8, 2024

Heritage Elementary School hosted a heartfelt Veterans Day assembly on Friday, honoring the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans. The school welcomed members of AmVet Post 2006, who played a central role in the event, joining students, faculty, and families for a morning of remembrance and gratitude.

The day began with a buffet breakfast, bringing veterans, students, and families together in a warm, communal gathering. Following breakfast, students from Junior Kindergarten through 5th grade assembled in the gymnasium for a meaningful ceremony to pay tribute to veterans. As part of the program, students received special remembrance and service coins, which they will share with family members to honor their loved ones who have served.

The assembly featured touching musical performances by the students, who sang "Sacrifices Made," "A Pittance of Time," and "America the Beautiful." The traditional bugle call of “Taps” added a solemn and reflective note to the ceremony, prompting moments of silence and gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
