To coincide with the excitement of the presidential election season, our fifth-grade students held their own mock election, complete with candidates, speeches, and a voting process. Each student could run solo or with a vice-presidential partner, simulating the collaborative roles in a real election.
On Monday, November 4th, candidates took the stage to share their visions for the class. They spoke about the positive changes they’d bring as class president, from school spirit initiatives to ways to make learning even more fun. Students from other grades and classes joined the audience, engaging in a Q&A session with the candidates to understand their platforms.
After the speeches, voting commenced, marking the end of an exciting campaign. This event was an invaluable opportunity for students to learn about democracy, current events, and the importance of civic engagement.
