Did you know that April is National Autism Acceptance month, and April 2nd is World Autism Awareness day?
World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day annually on April 2nd, encouraging Member States of the United Nations to take measures to raise awareness about autistic individuals throughout the world. Next Wednesday, Lakewood Hawks are encouraged to wear their SOMI "belonging" t-shirts or anything blue in support and acceptance of those with autism!
This morning, students were visited by Michigan author, Bryan Chick! He teaches students about the writing process and how to make book, as well as tells them about the books he's published! Thanks for visiting!!

Word on the street is, Mrs. Anderson's class is ABC-mazing! Her students paraded around the school sporting their individual letter vests that they decorated at home! It was so fun seeing their creativity flow through the different items added to their vests. What can you see?
Anyone up for a round of mission impossible? Mrs. Currie's students are pros already! During their gym class this week, students worked in partners to carry hula hoops with jump ropes. What a fun challenge, that gets everyone moving!
Mrs. Peaden has been popping into different classrooms throughout the school day, and yesterday she got to check out Ms. William's first graders engaging in music centers! Looks like they're channeling their inner Beethoven.

Who doesn't like yoga?! Our speech path has recently piloted 'kindy yoga' as a way to increase inclusion and to teach students how to regulate their bodies. Students learn how do different poses, they discuss SEL topics, and learn group skills during this time. How cool!!
Need dinner plans for next Wednesday?!? Come hang out with us at the McDonald’s on 59 and Bogie.
