Huron Valley Schools' Bogie Lake campus started the 2024-2025 school year operating on White Lake Township water.
Thanks to the 2019 Bond and Building Site Sinking Fund, HVS was able to partner with White Lake Township to improve our infrastructure for not only our staff and students, but the entire community. “This just shows you what can happen when you put a plan together and you just try to take it one step at a time effectively. I just think this is a great opportunity for this campus, great opportunity for White Lake.” said White Lake Township Supervisor Rik Kowall “As we expand the system we are able to service all the residents with a much higher grade, higher quality water.”
The Township built an iron filtration plant and new water main line that runs to the southeast corner of Lakeland High School. The new lines and systems were put in place over the summer and are fully operational.
“One of the basic necessities of life, having clean water in every one of our school buildings. It’s absolutely essential to the operation of a successful school environment and it benefits our kids.” said HVS Superintendent Paul Salah “It allowed for a partnership that you don’t often see between a township and a school district to do something that is extraordinarily beneficial, not only for our school community but for our community as a whole.”
An official ceremony was held Monday, September 16th at the LHS atrium to celebrate the partnership between the district and the township. This is just one of the many infrastructure upgrades we are able to do with the communities support on Bond proposals but also with our ongoing partnerships with the communities that our district serves.
