It's National School Social Work Week, and at HVS, we have some of the best. These professionals help students deal with mental health and behavioral challenges and provide academic and classroom support. They also help in developing education policies and work with teams to support crisis interventions. Thank you, HVS social workers! #HVSProud
Some of Ms. McPherson's kindergarteners enjoy putting puzzles together during their library time.
Recently the Milford Cinemas have partnered with the elementary schools in HVS to rewards students for showing creativity and/or leadership with a "golden ticket." This entitles the student two movie passes, two popcorns, and two soft drinks (so they can take a guest) at their cinema. At Johnson, we award student PRIDE tickets for showing acts of Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dependability, and Empathy. When they earn a PRIDE ticket they receive a PRIDE pencil and have their ticket added to our a drawing for either a pizza party with the principal or the movie tickets. Congratulations to this month's winners, Madelyn Best and Maxwell Walsh.
Mrs. Chynoweth has a lot of fun things coming up for March is Reading Month, including One School, One Book. Look for information regarding our One School, One Book to be sent home, including a reading schedule, daily trivia questions, and a copy of The One and Only Ivan.
For the Kid's Heart Challenge, Mr. Browne said if our goal of $13,000 was met, he would dye his hair red. Our Johnson Jaguars exceeded that goal, and raised over $15,700 for the American Heart Association. Today, Mr. Browne dyed his hair red in front of the entire school!
We're sending a great big 'Thank You!' to all HVS bus drivers and transportation staff today. Not only do they travel a combined 7,000 miles every day to get our students safely to and from school, field trips and sporting events, they also go above and beyond to support HVS families with their Angel Tree project every year. #HVSProud
