The solar eclipse is happening Monday April 8th between 1:57pm and 4:27pm. What a great opportunity for our students to see this first hand. Here is the communication that was sent out by Dr Salah.

On Monday, April 8th, 2024, our community will experience a remarkable astronomical event
that promises to be both awe-inspiring and educational for our students and their families: a
solar eclipse.
A solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, temporarily
obscuring the sun from our view. This celestial phenomenon allows us to witness the
extraordinary interplay between these celestial bodies and offers invaluable lessons in
astronomy, physics, and natural sciences. This rare event offers a unique opportunity for our
community to witness the wonders of the universe together. The eclipse is set to begin at
1:57pm and reach maximum coverage of 95% at 3:13pm. It will conclude at 4:27pm.
Our area will not be able to observe a full eclipse because we are not in the direct path. It is
recommended to still follow some safety precautions during the maximum coverage time
frame. As part of our commitment to safety and education, we encourage you to talk to your
child(ren) about the dangers of looking directly at the Sun during the eclipse. Regular sunglasses
will not protect from the Sun’s powerful rays. Eclipse glasses will be available for all elementary
and middle school students. There will be a limited supply available for high schoolers due to
their dismissal time.
Eclipses don't happen very often, and they're a fantastic way for us to learn more about the Sun,
the Moon, and how they interact with Earth. It’s a live science show, and you have a front-row
seat!
